Activity 5 : Crafting and battle

After a tiring day we decided to seat down and relax at the local coffee shop only to be disturbed by artsy and his crafty hands of making action figures from the wire store.

He and fatty used the items that he had bought and made action figures! We then followed suit and play around with our newly made toys with materials found around Jonker Street. It was a joy to mesmerize back on our childhood days with these toys.

The battle started with artsy creating a knight from his wire's to battle with the dodol devil created by fatty. The battle was hard and tough but the silver knight wins the battle

Activity 4 : Shopping under budget

OMG! It was so fun!! I wish we can go back again. Shopping there was like so awesome! Hehehe.

Well it’s my turn to write in for the blog, and I’ll tell you the events that happen during our little shopping spree. We had just finish touring the museum which I gave a very good story about how baba nonya all happened, and decided to go shopping. Yeay!! My favorite sport! But the bad thing is that we were so broke for the day!
It was a very thought decision as there was so many good stuff to buy and was low on cash. Geeky gave a very smart idea which was to challenge all of us to shop under RM20 and see who can purchase the best and most items. It will be easy for me as I am good with bargaining hehe.

We each took our own path and proceeded to the various shops located around Jonker street. Each had their own different style of bargaining. Fatty always was the cutest one as he used his begging skill to get a very very low price from the pitiful seller who finally sold him his favorite dodol for RM2 per kg.

Geeky on the other hand was so smart that he manage to teach the seller the best way of earning morning in exchange for cheap prices on his selected items.
Oldie tried to use the sexy way of getting her items which made the seller so sick that he finally gave the items so cheap just so oldie would leave that poor seller alone.

We manage to get a lot of stuff for that day but as you know I am still the best so I was the winner with twenty four items in my shopping bag.

Activity 3 : Baba Musuem Tour

Our trip to Jonker wasn’t a total waste of time; I was able to convince the group that traveling to the museum would be fun. They almost spoilt it by disturbing me while I was telling the story of how baba nonya came to be.
We went to the baba nonya museum just beside Jonker street where we were greeted by a big portrait of a happily wedded couple on their wedding day. Shoppie was curious about the portrait as why is there a mix marriage with the husband being dressed in Malay attire while the wife is seen in a Chinese dress. I began my long story of how baba nonya happen, as you all know baba nonya is a mix culture of 2 different races. It all began when the king of china send over his fair princess all the way to Malacca to be wed to the sultan of Malacca. The people of the great state then started following in the sultan foot step of taking a different race into their families.

I was badly interrupted by Shoppie as she said that couldn’t be the correct story as it does not make sense to have a mix marriage. She then told her own version, which wasn’t even true!! She began by saying that it must have been a mix up. Her story began like so…

“One day a young Chinese man was strolling down the street when he met a fair maiden accompanied by her friend who was Malay, it was uncommon in those days to see two races in best of companionship but they were best friends. The young man decided to approach the young maiden as she dropped her handkerchief. The young man then returns the handkerchief to the young maiden in exchange for her address to pen her. The young maiden accidently gave the young man her best friend address instead of hers.

The young men then wrote to the following day and night which resulted in a fatal attraction between two parties. After a long time writing and corresponding to each other they finally decided to meet up for a date. When the young man arrive at the location he found out that the fair maiden wasn’t the one that he first saw but it was actually the best friend.

Even so, their love for each other was so strong that not even racial difference can stop them from loving each other. In the end they both got married and that’s how baba nonya happen. The end”

Well that’s her story, but me and you know that it isn’t true.

Activity 2 : Chicken Rice gamble

Chicken rice just the way we like them! All wrap up into a ball. After that tiring race we came together and sat down discussing about the race we just had and boy was it fun!

I took the liberty of ordering the chicken rice for us and while waiting oldie took out a vintage pack of cards which she just bought from the store. While playing we decided to use the chicken rice ball as chips to bet on. The losers had to eat the entire chicken rice ball with very very spicy chili that makes sambal and belacan taste like nothing.

It was a tense battle as we each didn’t want to eat that pile of hot chicken rice ball, accept me of course as I won’t mind eating as long as it’s nice. Hahaha.
Finally after a long game I did my best to lose the game in order to get the chicken rice ball. It was spicy I can tell you that but really really worth it! Yeah! Who’s laughing now haha.

Activity 1 : Trishaw Racing at Jonker

As we arrive at Jonker Street we were so bored as it has nothing fun to do, that small stretch of street left us dry and annoyed with it, luckily fatty suggested that we take a ride on the famous trishaw.

We were able to locate the trishaw station where all the nice uncles were waiting for customers to entertain. We rented one trishaw but was unable to fit all 3 of us so geeky had to walk behind the trishaw.

During the trishaw ride down Jonker Street we met Shopie and oldie who are very good people which we eventually become best of friends during the trip. We met at the intersection of Jonker Street where it had a lot of people crossing. An idea suddenly came up as we glance at oldie and Shoppie so did they do the same to us. Immediately we got the same idea and decided to race on the street itself to see whose trishaw was better.

Right after the last person cross the street a single green apple roll towards the middle of the street signaling the green light for us to go. As the trishaw paddler rave themselves up with techno music from their boom box they cycle as hard as they can compete against each other as we at the back seat cheer them on.

We seem to be losing as the girls had a much cooler and fitter paddler so we decided to use some tricks of ours. Fatty pulled up a foldable chair and tried to stop the girls but they retaliated with a very big and fluffy pillow used by Shoppie and a big frying pan by oldie. I quickly join the fight by using my trusty broom stick to try and topple the girls which seems to be winning ever vigilantly.

As we came to the ending we felt that we were going to lose, so fatty took out our secret weapon which was the great big yellow banana and started munching away, he almost chocked himself trying to eat finish that banana. We used the banana peel as a slipping mechanism and it work when the girl’s trishaw loosed control and crash into a pile of garbage.

Finally we reach the chicken rice stall as the winner and first place for the trishaw racing competition.
